The study of the plant world, now known as botany, was almost certainly our first field of science. People have been investigating plants for their edibility and medicinal uses for thousands of years and now, as it was then, most of our food and medicine originates from them. Not to mention, they inhale CO2 and exhale the oxygen we breathe. And the bonus: many of them are beautiful and delicious!
